The pacing never lulls—every twist on that river steamer kept me turning pages well past midnight. Poirot’s quiet observations are as sharp as ever, and the glamorous setting makes the murder feel even more sinister.
The pacing is spot-on, with Poirot’s deductions unfolding just slowly enough to keep you guessing until the final reveal. Only gripe is the middle section drags a bit during the couple’s backstory, but that ending makes it all worth it.
The setup on that river steamer is so claustrophobic and clever that I almost felt trapped with the passengers, though the middle stretch drags just a bit before the big reveal. Still, Poirot’s final explanation makes it all worth it.
