Deze thee wordt gemaakt in Noord-Taiwan en is gedraaid (in tegenstelling tot de balletjesstijl). Hij wordt rond juni geoogst, wat later is dan bij andere oolongtheeën. De telers laten een cicade (Jacobiasca formosana) de theebladeren aanvallen. De planten geven een stof af ter zelfverdediging die wij heerlijk vinden smaken, vergelijkbaar met perziken. Mike zag de planten in de verdediging tijdens een reis naar Taiwan; hij vond het fascinerend om dit opmerkelijke botanische proces te observeren.
