An ancient and much-loved tea from China, Lapsang, comes from the Wuyi Mountains (Wuyi Shan) in the northeastern part of Fujian Province, China. This region is where black tea was first developed (called Bohea). In the steeply forested mountains, pine trees were plentiful, so it came naturally to smoke tea like bacon. The leaves were slowly withered to create a complex tea, and then they were slowly dried in rooms with a smoky fire below. As you might imagine, the tea develops a distinctive smoky flavor. Give it a try when you want a change of pace.

Adam ★★★★★

The smoky scent hit me the second I opened the tin, way stronger than the supermarket stuff I'd been settling for. Knowing it actually comes from the Wuyi Mountains in Fujian makes the depth make sense, and it holds up nicely through a second steep.

Stella ★★★★★

I was worried the smoke would be overpowering, but it's more like a campfire in the distance — mellow and smooth with a malty finish. Knowing it comes from the Wuyi Mountains makes me appreciate the history in every cup.

Amelia ★★★★★

The smoky pine aroma hit me the second I opened the tin, way deeper than the supermarket Lapsang I used to buy. Steeping it three minutes gives a smooth, almost malty cup with that campfire finish I was hoping for.
